Povlja is a typical little place, located on the northeastern side of the island Brac in the naturally sheltered deep cove. With its 330 inhabitants administratively belonging to the municipality of Selca. Except tourism population is predominantly doing growing olives, which is in this part of the island of Brac quite pronounced and known. In Povlja is the largest early Christian basilica on the island, as well as some of the valuable historical monuments, such as "Povaljska listina" (the oldest surviving document written in Croatian Cyrillic script) and "Povaljski prag" (one of the oldest and most important epigraphic monuments written in Croatian Cyrillic script).
The place is surrounded by numerous natural deep bays and several beaches (concrete, stone, pebble).
Some of the most beautiful bays are Luke, Dramotinj, Travna, Smokvica, Tatinja, Ticja luka... If you want to explore some of this bays there is a possibility of renting boats.
Povlja are an ideal place for families with children, as well as for those who want to spend their holidays in peace and quiet away from city crowds and noise. In Povlja, you can enjoy walking long promenades and beaches, swimming, tasting dalmatian specialties, cultural sites.
